Stage win for the Shanghai Swans at the Global Champions League in Shanghai

Riesenbeck International “disillusioned”, but not discouraged

Shanghai - After a long break, the International Equestrian Center Shanghai is once again hosting the two show jumping series Longines Global Champions Tour and Global Champions League this weekend.
The third of the 15 stages of the team competition proved to be a difficult task for some of the riders and their horses, with not a single team finishing without a fault.
After a final round that shook everything up, the Shanghai Swans with Max Kühner and Ben Maher won with a total of one fault and a faster time than second-placed Valkenswaard United with Marcus Ehning and Gilles Thomas. In third place, also with one fault but even slower, was Team New York Empire.

After round one, only the Madrid in Motion, Prague Lions and Cannes Stars teams had produced clear rounds. The three leading teams were unable to maintain their form until the end and slipped to 5th, 9th and 12th place after making mistakes.

The first joint appearance of brothers Max and Philipp Weishaupt, both members of the Riesenbeck International team, did not go well. In the first round, both Omerta Incipit and Coby both made one fault, in round two Max Weishaupt had to leave the course after Omerta Incipit made two faults. Philipp Weishaupt's Coby also picked up another pole. As a result, the team from Riesenbeck finished 13th out of 17.

Riesenbeck-International Team Manager Ludger Beerbaum commented: “That was sobering. Nevertheless, we must not lose heart and draw the right conclusions from this defeat.” There will be a chance to do so in two weeks' time at the fourth leg of the Global Champions League in Madrid.
