Biography

Philipp was born in the Bavarian city of Augsburg. His parents run a training stable with around 70 horses in Jettingen. At 8 years old he began competing in jumping competitions. With his first pony Rocky he worked his way through A and L level jumping classes. At which point he was able to take over an old Grand Prix horse from his father. With this horse things quickly progressed. And at the young age of 15 he earned his ‘Goldene Reit Abzeichen’. The Weishaupts are a horse family though and through. His father was a successful jumping rider, and his brother also rides professionally. Ludger Beerbaum rapidly became aware of the talented Bavarian, and what started as a short term internship turned in to a full time job. In 2008 he completed his examinations to become a professional rider and was recognized as the best in his year. “Philipp is a daredevil“ says Ludger Beerbaum when asked about Phillip. Since joining Ludger Beerbaum Stables he has earned the title of German Champion, won the Bundeschampionat for young horses twice, and is praised and looked upon as being one of the very best riders of young horses. When Philipp and Con Chello won the Bundeschampionat in 2010 Ludger Beerbaum was very touched: “that was a ‘hippologic demonstration!”. Two of his biggest results he won with his long time partner LB Convall. The pretty grey stallion help Philipp to win the GP of Aachen as well as the GP of Calgary in 2018. As a next goal the freshly married rider is focussing on the Olympics in 2021.
